Today, SBWS is excited to highlight a very special wedding for the daughter of Margaret Lloyd, owner and founder of Margaret Joan Florals in Santa Barbara. Occurring just days before Christmas, the couple wanted to fully embrace the holiday spirit within the decor and other details of the day. With extra help from the bride’s friend who also happens to be a wedding designer with Studio Komorebi, Ann Johnson Events took the theme and ran with it, perfectly fusing Christmas and a wedding day into one show stopping event at the Santa Barbara Woman’s Club.

In keeping with the festive atmosphere, the bride Marie wore a timeless white dress from The Vampire’s Wife with puff sleeves and white bows strung down the front, symbolic of a Christmas present. The bow theme was additionally repeated on her diamond earrings and on the wreaths and napkins later at the reception. Throughout the day, the groom Yusef was joined by his two children from a previous marriage. His daughter acted as Maid of Honor and his son was assigned the very important role of Best Man. He helped his dad get ready beforehand and stood by his side during the big moment.

The ceremony was held at golden hour under the venue’s giant oak tree which was decked out in magnificent string lights and strung with lanterns and florals. With the involvement of Margaret Joan Florals—in addition to other florists who lent a helping hand including Intrepid Floral Co., Foriver Floral, and Wild West Florals—the arrangements for this wedding were to-die-for and most followed a crimson and red color scheme. Four flower girls dressed in dark red preceded the bride down the aisle—all her nieces—as well as the groom’s daughter matching the bride in white. The groom wore a dark green tux and tie, as he awaited his soon-to-be wife. A very heartfelt ceremony ensued led by the bride’s college friend who acted as the officiant, and Sarah Vendramini got it all on camera.

The reception was held inside, and is where the Christmas theme really started to take over. Tall Christmas trees were decorated in the corners of the room and a mix of rectangular and circular tables were dressed in cheery red tablecloths from La Tavola, as well as cream-colored napkins wrapped in red and green bows from Fold Santa Barbara. Winter greenery made up the centerpieces along with tall, silver candelabras. Both Town and Country Rentals and Bella Vista Designs additionally contributed to the amazing design. At cocktail hour, guests were served by Flair Project. And later, as they were seated, Craft Wood Fired Catering provided a meal of both standing rib roast and leg of lamb with potato hash and seasonal vegetables. For dessert, alongside the cake, Room for Cake also set up a hot cocoa bar outside complete with decorated Christmas cookies.

Plenty of speeches were given on stage, toasting the newlyweds. Then, later on, all attention turned to the dance floor as Party Proper took over the mic and speakers.
