A party without cake is just a meeting
— Julia Child

Isn't that the truth? Well said, Ms. Julia!

Admittedly, it is a tough job, but someone has to do it!  To make sure that wedding cakes look AND taste delicious!  Today we are doing a roundup on the styles of cakes.

How do you know what to pick and how to go about designing it?  Much like the invitation tips we did last week, you really have to decide what your overall theme is and what message you want to send guests that ties in your wedding look with your chosen two, three or seven tiered cake! Ultimately it is your tastes that matter, literally.

If you are one of those couples that want to make all your guests happy, the good news is that for the most part, pastry chefs will indeed make each tier of your wedding cake a different flavor. Also, if as a couple the two of you cannot decide on a flavor, this is the one area of marriage you do not have to compromise! You can have an entire tier of chocolate cake for one of you, while the other spouse gets to enjoy their favorite, a delicious tier of carrot cake!

Whatever you decide, do make sure that your planner, cake baker and florist coordinate on the look and aesthetics of your wedding cake. Below is inspiration of several cakes we have published on our blog for the real Santa Barbara Weddings. Can you guess what theme, look or style the wedding below is going for just by looking at the wedding cake?
