Nestled amongst the hills in the magical East End of the Ojai Valley you will find a secluded, fairytale property filled with beautiful gardens, mature natural landscaping and a loving atmosphere that tingles your senses. That property is Casa de Paz. At the heart of the property stands The Peace Chapel, an intimate stone chapel built in 1922.

The Peace Chapel has been a haven for people of all faiths, including Ojai's renowned guru Krishnamurti who first came to Ojai as the guest of Mary Gray, former owner, theosophist, poet, educator and author. Krishnamurti later established his retreat on an adjacent property and it is reported that he had his enlightenment experience under a Pepper Tree in this neighborhood, perhaps even on this property.

The Peace Chapel is suitable for weddings up to 30 or so people. It is perfect for those who are coming to the Santa Barbara/Ojai area for a special experience with a select group of family and friends. It is a place of fun and joy, as well as serenity and spiritual power.

Although Ojai is a mere 90 minutes from Los Angeles, it is a world away in feeling as evidenced by it being the site chosen for the filming of the classic movie "Lost Horizon" which depicts this area as the mythical, Eden-like land called "Shangri-la". To quote from the movie: "Where every soul glimpses the eternal...for it is in the eternal that we see ourselves for who we truly are..."LIGHT".
This property has been a very spiritual site for hundreds of years dating back to the Native Americans. It feels like you are touching the ground of a different time and space. Time stands still here, which is ideal to focus on your love and celebrate the beginning of your new life together with your chosen beloved one...

We bought this property in March 2004 with the desire to give the land back its traditional purpose. Marcus is a non-denominational licensed minister, known by many as “The Minister of Love”, who performs wedding ceremonies and other types of blessings and ceremonies in the Peace Chapel and the surrounding gardens.

His wife,Eva, is an intuitive, creative and spirit led wedding photographer who specializes in capturing the True Essence of her clients. Together with the property we have created special Wedding packages to make it as easy and convenient as possible for you to get married at this unique Shangri-la inspired location.

We are looking for couples and their intimate wedding parties who will appreciate the spiritual value of this property and this magical land. We are creating a love-fest that vibrates and stimulates all of us to live a life of presence with what is important -and we invite you to become ONE with this beautiful land and feel the radiance and the love within you and your wedding.
