Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center
This is about as close as you can get to the beach without being directly on the sand. The interior is historical, dating back to 1928. The exquisite wood beamed ceiling, the spectacular views of the ocean and the large balconies overlooking East Beach make the Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center one of the most popular reception sites in Santa Barbara. For the bride and groom who want to marry on the sand or take their pictures on the beach, this is the perfect location. The room itself is open and airy, with a monthly art exhibits that grace the walls. This site books up months in advance so be sure to confirm your date early!
Catering: You can use any caterer of choice as long as they follow the facility guidelines. Since there is no stove in the “prep” kitchen, cooking is not allowed. A heated holding cabinet, commercial refrigerator and sink are available. Do note that the heated holding cabinet only heats to about 170° F and is designed to hold food already cooked and warm. Barbecuing is allowed in the parking lots adjacent to the building.
Self-catering is an option but expect your security deposit to be doubled.
Parking: The Cabrillo West and the Cabrillo East parking lots on either side of the Center are not included in the rental price. They are managed by the City’s Waterfront Parking Department. Both the parking lots are “honor fee” lots and are patrolled regularly. It is up to you to deposit your parking fee into the collection box. You can also pre-pay for your guest parking by contacting the Waterfront Parking Department at 805-564-5523 or 805-897-1965. As for free street parking, it is limited in the area.
Insurance: Not required.
Alcohol: All forms of alcohol are allowed with the exception of beer in a keg. If you sell alcohol during your event, a "liquor license" should be obtained from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and displayed at the bar.
Tables: The Center will furnish tables and chairs for an additional fee. Caterers and other event services generally need about 3 hours of set-up time and should be calculated as part your rental span of time. The tables, chairs, etc. will already be in place before your “start time.” Be advised – the Center does not allow set-up to occur prior to this time.
The rental price for tables, chairs and dance floor includes set-up and take-down. There is an assortment of 6’ banquet tables, 60” round tables, one 48” round table, hotel style chairs (padded seat & back) and an 18’ x 18’ teak tongue-and-groove dance floor. Additionally, the Center can provide a portable bar, a floor podium and easels at no charge. When you book a rental, they include a blank floor plan with the paperwork. Ultimately, you create your room set-up by diagramming it onto this floor plan.
Decorations: The Arts Center's monthly art exhibits add some décor to the walls. Linens, floral centerpieces and candles are the most common kind of decorations. However, if you do choose to decorate more than this, you may not nail, staple, thumb tack or duct tape your decorations to the walls. As for candles, the flame must be enclosed in a votive cup or hurricane glass covering.
Music: Amplified music is allowed.
