KB Events Sets You Up for an Extraordinary Wedding Experience

We recently asked Katie Schuette, owner of KB Events, to open up about her top wedding advice for couples as well as her favorite types of weddings to plan. Katie, along with the entire KB Events team, is dedicated to designing flawless weddings that truly emulate the couple’s vision. Discover how to create your own extraordinary event with tips from a true expert in the field.

Q - What is your favorite location where you prefer to plan client weddings? What is the style that makes this location special for couples?

A - My favorite location is Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara because it is a beautiful beachfront property with three very different event space aesthetics. One of the reasons I love Four Seasons is because you can have an art deco modern wedding in one ballroom and a Spanish colonial residential style wedding in another - all the while receiving the best service in town with delicious food and drinks!

Q - What is your #1 top piece of advice you give to couples before they hire you?

A - Your wedding is about YOU! I'm happy to weigh in and ensure your vision can be executed within your expectations, but if you want to top off a champagne tower after you walk down the aisle and toast your guests - you should do it!

Q - What is trending with your couples?

A - Our couples want their guests to have a great experience. They select great food, comfortable seating away from the dinner area for lounging and a variety of options for later evening for those that don't want to live on the dance floor. We are hearing from a lot of couples that they want it to feel like home but on a bigger scale with great dancing to cap off the night!

Q - What are 2 things you wish couples would do for every wedding?

A - I wish each couple would incorporate something that truly reflects them into the wedding, even if it has nothing to do with traditional weddings (like a pinata cake or a library card escort card display or taking wedding party photos in a wine tasting room) - those personal touches are the things guests remember.

Take moments throughout their wedding day to stop and look around and then look at each other. The day goes by really fast and important moments can be missed in the fast pace, so taking a moment to drink it all in helps you remember the feeling of your day.

Q - To date, what wedding have you planned that made the top of your favorite list, and why?

A - Priscilla & Jon's wedding was recently published on SBWS and I loved the personal touches they incorporated into their day. Priscilla said that she loves sweets so they had a candy station, a marble slab ice cream station and a full wedding cake! I love that she embraced her sweet tooth and went with it! We also created some great lighting effects to highlight those areas with timers too. She wanted to capture a tropical but timeless look for her wedding so she stuck with white flowers and greenery but added several textures to keep it interesting. She also loved the candlelight glow so we added a lot of candles around the ballroom and she created table numbers out of vases so they could also light up from the inside. The evening glow was just what she had envisioned. She was sure to incorporate something her husband loved as well, bringing five light sabers out during dancing for guests to dance battle with them before heading to the after party.
