The wedding planning team at Santa Barbara Wedding Coordinator helped today’s couple plan the wedding of their dreams on the rooftop of the luxury Kimpton Canary Hotel. Soft pink was picked for the color scheme, and Anna Delores Photography captured each detail flawlessly as the day progressed from getting ready to walking down the aisle to cutting the cake—provided by Enjoy Cupcakes.

String lights hung overhead during both the rooftop ceremony and reception and details like the chiavari chairs and florals from Grass Roots gave the wedding a timeless and classic feel. Finch & Fork provided the evening’s meal along with a few delectable tray passed hors d’oeuvres, and the inclusion of multiple musical acts throughout the day added a charming touch.

Real Wedding Questionnaire from Kimpton Canary Hotel:

Take us through your wedding day. Tell us any moments like how your morning started, who helped you get ready and where were you, anything anecdotal and special leading up to the ceremony and then through to your reception:

We had a large wedding party… 10 on each side!  It sounds crazy, but everyone who stood next to us meant so much to both of us. So, we were surrounded by so many loved ones that day while we were getting ready.  I reserved a room for the girls down in the mezzanine/ground level to get our hair and makeup done. The guys got ready in one of the suites. Finch and Fork provided delicious snacks for both sides of our wedding party while we got ready. We chose not to see each other before the ceremony, so it was nice for the Canary to have a number of separate rooms and spaces where we didn’t have to sneak around too much. The day ran so smoothly, thanks to Liza and her staff!  We never wanted for anything and both felt very well taken care of. After the ceremony on the rooftop, our guests were shifted down to the mezzanine for the cocktail hour that included scrumptious hor d'oeuvres while we took pictures with our family and wedding party. This area is so stunning for that type of transition.  All the guests had so many wonderful things to say about the space…. John and I were both sad we missed that part of the day while we were taking our pictures. The move to the reception on the rooftop was seamless as well. By that time of the day, the sun was setting and the view of the entire city was breathtaking.

Ceremony location and descriptive details about the room, the flowers, the lighting, the people:

Our ceremony took place on the rooftop. We chose not to overwhelm the space with tons of flowers…Grass Roots did a fantastic job allowing the space to shine and not overcome the view. We let the beauty of the vista take over.  Liza had a great idea to position the chairs in a semicircular manner. This allowed for a better viewing in our opinion. Everything was simply situated and it was just gorgeous.

Reception location and descriptive details about the room, the flowers, the lighting, the people:

The reception took place on the rooftop as well. We wanted a comfortable and casual, yet sophisticated, space. The Canary provided couches and chairs for intimate seating, along with high and low top tables that housed simple fresh flower arrangements. We also had a few larger tables reserved for our family. We put out framed pictures from our engagement photos on the fireplace mantle along with more flowers. Since we had a large number of guests, the combination of mixed seating and the buffet-style dinner was perfect. Once the sun went down, the beautiful string lights glistened over the entire rooftop space. Lights strung across the dance floor was always a must for me. We love music, so we had both a band and a DJ the entire night. We drank, ate, and danced the night away. Our photographer provided a photo booth as well. That was positioned on the pool deck, which was a perfect location. The entire evening flowed so well and we couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out. After the reception ended, we invited our guests down to Finch and Fork for late-night bites and more drinks. This gave everyone a chance to unwind a little and get a snack before heading home. Definitely a memorable evening. We are already planning a 5-year anniversary party here because it was so amazing and perfect!!
