We completed a deep dive interview with Margaret Lloyd, owner of Margaret Joan Florals, a flower expert with over 20 years of experience as a florist. Margaret has a passion for creating beautiful arrangements for both weddings and other special events, and finds inspiration in Santa Barbara’s natural environment. We asked Margaret to share advice to couples when it comes to wedding florals and some of her favorite work she has completed.

Q - What is your favorite location to work? What is the style that makes this location special for couples?

A - Private Residence. I like working with couples in Montecito in a personal space that reflects Santa Barbara's relaxed casual style. California Oaks, and other native plantings make the perfect backdrop for simple yet elegant entertaining.

Q - What is your #1 top piece of advice you give to couples before they hire you?

A - Embrace the season in which you have chosen to celebrate!

Q - What is trending with your couples?

A - Environmentally sustainable floristry using locally grown flowers and green practices.

Q - What are 2 things you wish couples would do for every wedding?

A - Keep their wedding party, bridesmaids and groomsmen intimate, and narrow down their guest list, to create a a more curated quality experience over quantity.

Q - To date, what wedding have you done that has made the top of your favorite list, and why?

A - I had several that met this criteria for this year that needed to be postponed for 2021, that I was really looking forward to, but the one I did at a private ranch allowed the bride's parents to make lasting improvements after the walk through to their property to make it uniquely personal, and really highlight the old California style we love to embrace here in Santa Barbara County.
