An Exclusive Interview with Founder & CEO of Epic Entertainment

Epic Entertainment lives up to its name, providing nothing short of high-energy, epic events. With Epic, you not only get access to the best wedding DJs on the central coast but also an online planning system and personal assistance throughout the wedding planning process, decor lighting, live streaming capabilities, and even a photo booth option. The team’s services also extend beyond weddings as they can cater to corporate events, private parties, or school dances as well.

Epic has a lineup of talented, experienced DJs to fit any vibe, and are led by founder, CEO, and Executive DJ Anthony Salas. SBWS had a chance to ask Anthony a few questions about the music business and to get the inside scoop on a few of his favorite wedding day songs.

Q - What is your music specialty?

A - We don't have a specific music specialty. Epic Entertainment has 17 DJs, and although we have one DJ that was the line dance club president at his college, another DJ that lived in Kenya and knows Afro-beats backwards and forwards, DJs that have done club experience and many other varied backgrounds, we train our DJs to be experts in all popular styles of music.

Q - What are your thoughts about scheduling a dance set between cocktails + dinner? Yes or no, and why?

A - We do not ever schedule our music sets prior to the event. We compile a list of all of the couples/clients requests and use that as our base when we go to any event. Then, we play to what the guests are vibing off of in combination with the couple’s specific requests.

Q - What is the #1 advice you give to couples planning their wedding with you?

A - Have fun! This is your day! Let your vendors do all the worrying and grunt work for you.

Q - What is your favorite first dance song, and why?

A - This is an impossible question. We do over 600 weddings per year and get to hear many unique choices for first dances. I think all of our DJs enjoy the reactions during first dances more than the song being played.

Q - What is your favorite last song, and why?

A - Another impossible question! Each couple is so different and every party has its own vibe. Sometimes something like “Mr. Brightside” is the perfect song, sometimes it's “Closing Time” or “(I've had) The Time Of My Life”. No matter what the last song of the evening is, our goal is to always leave guests wanting more.
