Black Tie Ceremony at Winslow-Maxwell Overlook SBCC
At the Winslow-Maxwell Overlook at Santa Barbara City College, this black-tie wedding felt like it was suspended somewhere between ocean and sky. With the Pacific stretching out in one direction and the Santa Ynez mountains framing the other, the setting did most of the storytelling all on its own. Sunlight glinted off the water below, boats drifting in and out of the nearby marina, adding just enough movement to an otherwise cinematic, still backdrop.
It’s easy to see why this spot has quietly become a favorite for Santa Barbara ceremonies over the years. Perched high above the coastline, the overlook offers that rare combination of sweeping views and an intimate, tucked-away feel—like you’ve stumbled onto something both grand and personal at the same time.
The design, led by Coco Rose Design, leaned beautifully into the natural surroundings without ever competing with them. White and blush blooms—hydrangeas and roses—lined the aisle in soft, organic clusters, as if they had grown right out of the landscape itself. The ceremony arch felt like an extension of that same idea, with flowers reaching up from the ground on either side, framing the couple against the ocean beyond.
The bridal party brought a playful softness to the formality of the day. Bridesmaids wore garden-party-inspired dresses in a mix of pastel shades and floral prints, each one different but all perfectly cohesive together. It added a fresh, romantic contrast to the black-tie elegance of the ceremony, striking that balance between polished and joyful.
With views like these and a setting that feels both iconic and intimate, the Winslow-Maxwell Overlook continues to be one of Santa Barbara’s most unforgettable places to say “I do.”
