Timeless Courthouse Vows and a Cozy Brunch Reception
From Joanie Bear at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara:
On a sunlit Friday morning in early June, guests gathered at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens for a joyful celebration. The bride and groom shared a tender first look just before the ceremony. Guests were met with the with a sound of an acoustic guitar filling the air as friends and family took their seats beneath the historic arches. Their ceremony was heartfelt and intimate, filled with laughter, tears, and a few joyful cheers as they shared their vows.
Following the “I do’s,” guests made their way to the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara for a relaxed brunch reception. Passed appetizers welcomed everyone into a bright, airy courtyard where the couple mingled freely rather than making a formal entrance. A buffet-style brunch, thoughtfully prepared by Catering Connection, gave the afternoon a warm, communal feel, while elegant florals by Alpha Floral brought a soft, romantic touch to every table.
Instead of a traditional cake cutting, the couple shared a private moment together with their Lilac Patisserie cake before joining their guests for an ice cream bar — a playful and sweet finale to a beautiful day.
Photographed by Matt Roberts of Rewind Photography, the entire celebration reflected the couple’s easygoing spirit and love for meaningful moments over formality — a perfect Santa Barbara morning filled with sunshine, laughter, and connection.
