Goleta Venue Helps Couple Celebrate Their Multicultural Love Story

Dive into this joyful wedding at the Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation — a truly special multicultural celebration, filled with vibrant traditions and heartfelt moments. Even more charming, the colorful day was captured entirely through the lenses of the couple’s guests, and the wedding video itself was lovingly created by Melanie from the venue, adding an extra personal touch.

From Melanie at Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation:

The bride is of Mexican descent, and the groom is of (east) Indian descent. Their love story intermingled two rich cultures, and their early autumn wedding took full advantage of the versatile venue spaces available at Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Our varied outdoor and indoor spaces allowed them to celebrate their love and family heritages through our open, welcoming environment, as well as the brilliant colors and delicious tastes they brought to our venue.

One hundred guests attended their afternoon wedding, which began with a procession of the bride and groom to our Outdoor Sanctuary, where a Hindu priest officiated a traditional Indian wedding ceremony. Guests observed from its open-air, Greek theater-like seating and from chairs placed on our seven-turn labyrinth, encircling the couple. The wedding canopy provided shade and a special ceremonial space, adorned with beautiful flowers in saffron, burgundy, and white, which complemented the bride and groom, dressed in traditional wedding attire from India.

The bride then used our Cottage, which afforded room and privacy to change into a more traditional Mexican dress for the reception, which had already begun on our terrace and patio. Under string patio lights, guests filled their plates with delectables from not one but two buffets: Masala Spice Indian Cuisine in Goleta prepared their Indian dinner options; Tacos Junior in Goleta prepared the Mexican offerings. Their beautiful two-tier wedding cake celebrated the merging of two cultures - one tier decorated in an Indian motif that mirrored the bride’s beautiful henna hands; the other tier decorated in traditional Mexican embroidered floral motifs.

Love abounded in Live Oak’s indoor Sanctuary, where our wrought-iron tree-of-life archway decorated with fresh flowers framed the bride and groom and made their wedding table unmistakable. Our round tables and tasteful teak chairs accommodated all of the guests who comfortably enjoyed their delicious meals and toasts, and our shining hardwood floors resonated the rhythms of Mexican and Indian music, DJ Zenen Bravo played and encouraged dancing into a night to remember.

The grateful couple wrote, “[We] just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank [Live Oak] for everything you did to make our wedding day so wonderful. The venue looked absolutely beautiful; the indoor hall was amazing, and the outdoor space was simply perfect for our ceremony. We’re so grateful for your kindness, organization, and support throughout the entire process. Your clear communication, attention to detail, and coordination made everything run so smoothly. We especially appreciated your patience, punctuality, and genuine warmth on the day; it truly made a difference and allowed us to enjoy every moment without worry. Please extend our gratitude to everyone at Live Oak as well. It’s a beautiful space run by equally wonderful people, and we couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with.”

At Live Oak UU Congregation, we put love at the center of all we do, and believe any committed couple is welcome to marry, regardless of denomination, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ethnic/national identity. All are welcome at Live Oak.
