What are your top 3 wedding locations you have ever photographed a wedding or elopement at, and why?

Cyprus, in a 14th Century Church. The awe of standing in that building and seeing these lovely people get married.

A private home on the Riviera in Santa Barbara, outside during Covid, Emily and Dave got married with just a few guests and were overcome with joy.
Beaver Creek, Colorado, for Darin and Andy after the Supreme Court ruled that love is love.

What is the #1 advice you give to couples about wedding photos?

The #1 advice I give couples about wedding photos is to prioritize presence over perfection. Your wedding day isn't about stiff poses or over-curated moments — it’s about ease, intention, and emotional depth. The most timeless images happen when you allow yourself to slow down and fully experience the day you’ve so thoughtfully designed.

What is your number one engagement session tip for couples?

Be yourselves. You are marrying each other for a reason, not for a fashion shoot!

What are 2 things you wish couples would do regarding photography?

Two things I wish every couple would do for their wedding photos:

  1. Build extra time into the timeline. Rushed energy shows — calm confidence photographs beautifully.

  2. Be fully present with each other. The real magic isn’t in the pose, it’s in the connection.

What is your favorite wedding you have ever photographed and why?

If I had to choose one favorite wedding, it would be Annie and Terrance’s in 2017. They were married in a beautiful church ceremony in Vail, Colorado, followed by a walk through the mountain village in the warm summer sun, surrounded by their closest friends. The celebration continued under a tented reception set against blue skies and alpine views — classic, joyful, and effortlessly elegant.

But what truly set their wedding apart was the overwhelming sense of love. Every person there radiated joy for them. It was palpable — the kind of energy you can’t design, only feel.

It also marked the first of four weddings we photographed for this family of 4 sisters. From a summer celebration in Vail, to a spring wedding in New Hampshire, to a New Year’s Eve soirée in sub-zero temperatures with the most magical snowfall — we were entrusted to document each one.

To be invited back again and again for life’s most meaningful moments is the greatest honor of our work.
