Puppy Hour and Wedding Pros with Veils & Tails Photography
Zohe’s Eye:
I've been building this community for 25 years — and events like Pups and Planners are exactly why I keep doing it. Not because puppies in veils aren't reason enough (they absolutely are). But because what you're actually looking at when you see these photos is a group of wedding professionals who genuinely like each other. Who refer each other. Who show up for each other on the hardest Saturdays of the year. And here's what most couples don't realize: when your vendors know and trust each other before they ever set foot at your wedding — that trust shows up in the room. In the way they communicate. In the way they solve problems before you even know there was one. In the way your day feels, from the inside, like a well-oiled machine running on mutual respect and a genuine shared commitment to making it extraordinary. That's what a healthy vendor community looks like. These are your people. And yes — some of them brought their dogs.
When Wedding Pros Play Together, Everybody Wins
There's a version of the wedding industry where vendors are competitors — fighting for the same couples, guarding their vendor lists, keeping their distance.
And then there's Santa Barbara.
Here, we do things differently. We show up for each other. We refer each other. We celebrate each other. And occasionally — we round up all of our dogs, put on their fanciest collars, and spend an afternoon together at one of the most beautiful overlooks in the city.
That's exactly what happened at our Pups and Planners event, hosted in collaboration with Veils & Tails Photography — and it was every bit as joyful as it sounds.
The Event: Dogs, Ice Cream, and a View That Doesn't Quit
Santa Barbara's wedding pros gathered at the Bagish Overlook at Santa Barbara City College — one of our newest venue members and one of the city's best-kept secrets for intimate events.
Perched on the west side of campus, the circular stone patio faces the ocean, is shaded by low trees, and offers the kind of private, elevated view that makes you stop mid-conversation and just look. It's an exceptional spot for a small, intimate wedding — and as it turns out, an equally exceptional spot for a puppy party.
Ann Johnson Events set up a gorgeous lounge — because of course she did — and the pups immediately made themselves at home.
Veils & Tails Photography: Capturing Every Best Angle
Kristin of Veils & Tails Photography was in her element.
Kristin specializes in capturing authentic, joyful moments — and she is equally skilled at making both humans and their four-legged family members look their absolute best. Her images are vibrant, warm, and genuinely fun — which is exactly the energy this event called for.
She caught every wagging tail, every puppucino mustache, and every moment of pure love between these vendors and their dogs. If you're planning to include your pet in your wedding day — and you absolutely should consider it — Kristin is your person.
Dressed for the Occasion: The Foggy Dog
No dog should feel underdressed for a wedding industry event — and thanks to The Foggy Dog, none of them did.
The Foggy Dog provides fresh, beautifully designed collars, leashes, bows, and accessories for dogs who deserve to look as good as the wedding party. They even have a dedicated wedding collection — because your fur baby is family, and family deserves to be dressed for the occasion.
The Best Part: Puppucinos and Ice Cream
Bons Temps SB showed up with a mobile ice cream station — sprinkles, chocolate syrup, all the fixin's — and puppucinos for the four-legged guests.
Vendors and dogs alike were very, very happy.
It was the perfect Santa Barbara afternoon: good people, great dogs, ocean views, and ice cream. Which, honestly, is a pretty accurate description of why people fall in love with this city in the first place.
Why This Matters for Your Wedding
Here's the thing about vendor events like this one — they're not just fun (though they absolutely are). They're how the Santa Barbara wedding community stays connected, builds trust, and creates the kind of relationships that make your wedding run beautifully.
When your photographer has worked alongside your florist before — when your planner has grabbed coffee with your caterer, when your DJ knows your coordinator by name — something shifts. Communication gets easier. Problem-solving gets faster. The whole day moves with a fluidity that comes from people who genuinely know and respect each other.
You feel that on your wedding day. Your guests feel it too.
That's what we're building here — not just a directory, not just a vendor list, but a community of professionals who show up for each other. So they can show up, fully and completely, for you.
