Backyard Bliss: A Three-Tier Sage Wedding Cake by Little Things Bakery

Three-tiered sage green wedding cake by Little Things Bakery

For this intimate backyard wedding, the bride had a clear vision for her cake but wanted a unique design that truly reflected her style. Leah Hodson of The Little Things Bakery worked closely with her to merge the elements of her vision into one stunning, cohesive creation. With guidance from the bride, Leah combined these inspirations into a beautiful, harmonious cake that perfectly complemented the wedding’s aesthetic.

The three tiers were as delicious as they were beautiful:

  • Top Tier: Black Raspberry Cake with Raspberry Bavarian Cream Filling

  • Middle Tier: Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Mousse Filling

  • Bottom Tier: White Cake with Fresh Strawberry Bavarian Cream Filling

The cake was frosted in a soft sage green buttercream, with all intricate details crafted from buttercream and accented with edible pearls and tiny fresh daisies for a delicate touch. The result was a cake that was both elegant and playful, perfectly suited for the intimate backyard celebration.

Adding to the magic, Leah Hodson also captured the creation through her photography, preserving the sweet and personal moments of this lovely wedding. This sage-tiered cake is a testament to the beauty that comes from collaboration, creativity, and careful attention to detail.

From Leah Hodson:

Beneath strings of twinkling lights and the familiar rustle of backyard trees, two hearts promised forever—not in a grand ballroom, but in the cozy corners of home where their laughter had bloomed from friendship into love. With bare feet on familiar grass and the scent of wildflowers in the air, they turned an ordinary patch of earth into a fairytale, proving that when love is real, even the backyard feels like a castle. It was simple, sweet, and magic in every way—because in the end, it’s all about the little things: a shared glance, a quiet promise, spending time with family and friends … and a love that blooms where it’s most at home.
