Virtual Weddings by Santa Barbara Classic Weddings

During a time of so much change, uncertainty, postponements and life on hold, the wonderful wedding world in Santa Barbara is excited to move forward with the ability to conduct Virtual Weddings.

Patrice Handley shared with us her knowledge and article she recently published to help couples thru the process, below:

FROM PATRICE:

Since we are being told to not gather for events during the Covid-19 virus pandemic, Governor Newsom in California has issued an executive order for weddings in California. This is the URL: https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/4.30.20-EO-N-58-20-text.pdf

Now it is possible to apply for a Marriage Licences online. At that point the License can be used for a virtual marriage ceremony - like on Zoom. You will need to video conference with the Bride & Groom, the Officiant, and at least One Witness. You can invite other guests as well!

PATRICE HANDLEY of Santa Barbara Classic Weddings is a Wedding Officiant who is authorized to perform virtual Zoom Weddings. Please call for for information about Services & Fees. We can work together to create a very memorable marriage ceremony! It can be wonderful in so many ways - you’ll see!

You can investigate applying for your Marriage License in your county, but the best info for the application process here in Santa Barbara is from the County Clerk/Recorder (I think the most efficient way would be to use their phone number for detailed information and to get on the wait list):

“We have intention of providing this service and have been staging this capability for weeks.  We are also working Statewide with other counties to interpret the Order and follow a uniform practice. We are taking names and contact information on a wait list. As soon as we have an estimated start date, we will be emailing this information and arranging to make appointments.
Please email Clk-RecHelpDesk@co.santa-barbara.ca.us with the following information to be added to the wait list or call 805-568-2251.
Name Party A
Name Party B
Phone number
Email
Do you have an urgent condition that would escalate you in priority? Y/N

Examples of urgency are medical conditions”
