Dreaming of Spring Weddings with Our Wedding Planning Members
Spring is right around the corner (we promise!), and with it comes longer days, blooming flowers, and that unmistakable feeling of a fresh start. It’s the season of new beginnings — which makes it a pretty perfect time to say “I do.” From garden ceremonies surrounded by wildflowers to softly lit receptions that stretch into golden-hour evenings, spring weddings have a charm all their own.
To find out what truly makes this season so special, we asked members of our wedding planning community to share what they love most about spring celebrations — and why they often recommend this time of year to their couples. From flexible design palettes and seasonal florals to energized vendors and guest-friendly weather, here’s what they had to say about tying the knot in the spring.
From Hannah Landrigan, Lead Planner with KB Events:
What do you love about Spring Weddings?
There is something so fresh and lively about Spring Weddings. For us in the industry, they are usually our first of the year, and for guests, it is typically one of the first big outings of the year for them, too! People are recharged from the holidays/winter and ready to get back out of their houses, dressed up, and around people. The energy is always GREAT from vendors & guests alike.
Design-wise, you can play around with a lot of different palettes/vibes depending on what the couple gravitates towards. If you are more of a clean/minimal design type of person, you can lean more into pastels & neutrals, which feels just as fitting as leaning more into the "pre-summer" bright colors, patterns, etc., if that is more your speed.
Why would you recommend getting married in the spring?
Sometimes you can get off-season venue pricing
Weather can be a bit more sunny pre-May Gray/June Gloom... BUT you run the chance of it potentially being a bit more rainy
Lots of flexibility with design... you can lean more into wintery naturals OR lean more into bright/playful colors (both of which make great sense for the Spring season)
From Fran with Events by Fran:
What do you love about Spring Weddings?
I love Spring weddings because the weather is often mild and beautiful with the season of blooming flowers, making it a great time to have an outdoor wedding. You won't have to worry about guests being too hot or too cold, and you can take advantage of the beautiful spring scenery.
Why would you recommend getting married in the spring?
I recommend getting married in the Spring because there are more venue options - it's not as popular a wedding season as Summer or Fall. There's also more availability, lower costs, and longer days of daylight for wedding and ceremony photos.
From Sandy with Timeless Event Planning:
What do you love about Spring Weddings?
I love spring weddings because I’m just coming off my off-season and feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to kick off the year. Spring is such a special time to get married because it truly feels like a beginning in every sense—you’re first in line for the season, which means vendors are energized, creative, and fully recharged after the winter months.
I also love the natural pops of wildflowers that start to appear this time of year. They add so much color, texture, and effortless beauty to the backdrop of a wedding.
Why would you recommend getting married in the spring?
From a guest perspective, spring is often easier for travel and time off than the summer months, when calendars quickly fill with vacations and family commitments.
Weather-wise, spring tends to be more comfortable for outdoor celebrations—cooler days, softer light, and less intense heat than midsummer (though we still recommend heaters for evenings!).
Spring florals are also unmatched. This is when everything starts to bloom—especially in the mountains, where wildflowers begin to blanket the landscape.
Rental companies often debut new inventory in January so couples are typically the first to use newly purchased pieces, which is always a fun bonus.
From Tonya with Tonya Szele Events:
What do you love about Spring Weddings?
What I love most about spring weddings are the longer days and the light. Everything feels a little softer and more romantic. We also have access to some of the most beautiful spring flowers this time of year, which is always inspiring from a design perspective.
Why would you recommend getting married in the spring?
I often recommend spring for couples because Santa Barbara really shines then. The weather is lovely, venues feel fresh after winter, and the seasonal produce is incredible, which makes for especially delicious menus and craft cocktails.
From Brenda with Gatherings for Good:
What do you love about Spring Weddings?
To me, spring weddings feel like a fresh start after the cold winter months. The days grow longer, flowers begin to bloom, and there’s an unmistakable sense of excitement and optimism in the air. From a design perspective, spring offers endless inspiration from soft, romantic color palettes to bright, lively florals, all enhanced by natural light that makes every space feel magical. I also love how flexible the season is; spring weddings can suit almost any style, whether that’s classic garden-party romance, sweet and playful details, vibrant and colorful designs with mixed tones and textures, or a timeless black-tie celebration all within the same season.
Why would you recommend getting married in the spring?
Spring is one of the most versatile and guest-friendly times of year to get married. The weather is generally mild which opens the door to outdoor ceremonies, garden receptions, and beautiful indoor-outdoor transitions without the extreme heat of summer or the unpredictability of winter storms. Vendors are often more available than during peak summer or fall months, and seasonal florals are more abundant which can help with both creativity and budget. Most of all, spring weddings just feel joyful. There’s something incredibly symbolic about starting your marriage during a season that’s all about growth, renewal, and new beginnings.
