Star Wars cake from The Little Things Bakery

Little Things Bakery

Because of a clever play on the series’ popular catch phrase “May the force be with you”, the date May 4th has come to be known and loved as Star Wars Day. Today, members of the fandom celebrate with movie re-runs, costume contests, various memes across the internet, and more—this year Disneyland celebrated with a special Disneyland After Dark Star Wars Nite and, of course, LEGO went all in with a 278-piece Darksaber.

Star Wars holds a special place in many people’s hearts and even makes its way into major life events—such as weddings—for the truly die-hard fans. A few couples featured here on SBWS have included the franchise in their wedding theme and it can be seen in the subtle, and a few not-so-subtle, details throughout their big days. From Star Wars-themed drinks and cookies to lightsaber exits to actual Stormtroopers, these couples pulled out all the stops to make their wedding days truly out of this world.

And, Star Wars is just one of many wedding theme possibilities. For couples looking to add some flair and individuality to their wedding, there’s no shortage of other fandoms to choose from. Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Avengers, Disney or even a Batman theme—just to name a few—could all be worked into a unique wedding celebration.

For today, enjoy your fill of all things Star Wars and May the Fourth be with you!

We Can’t Forget About Dessert…

You can bake Star Wars into your wedding in more ways than one — especially when it comes to dessert. The Little Things Bakery has done just that with amazingly decorated cakes, cupcakes, and cookies that bring a galaxy far, far away right to your dessert table. Here’s just a sample of what they can do.

Starry Nods to the Force

It can be even more subtle than that, too. Think small, atmospheric touches — like hanging stars from the ceiling as a quiet nod to the franchise. A wedding at Camp Carmina showcased this beautifully, with glowing star lights and soft white drapery suspended overhead, creating a dreamy, galaxy-inspired setting without ever going over the top.
